About Carder
Carder is an online peer-to-peer marketplace for Pokémon Trading Card Game cards and related products. It is operated by Scott Barker, a sole trader registered in the United Kingdom (trading as "Carder").
Carder is a marketplace platform, not a party to transactions. When you buy or sell on Carder, the contract for the sale of cards is formed directly between the buyer and the seller. Carder provides the platform and payment infrastructure but is not the buyer, seller, or a principal in any transaction.

Buying on Carder
Forming a contract
When you complete checkout on Carder, a contract of sale is formed directly between you and the seller. Carder facilitates the payment but is not a party to that contract. The seller is solely responsible for fulfilling the order.
Delivery address
You are responsible for providing an accurate and complete delivery address before completing checkout. Carder and the seller are not liable for non-delivery or mis-delivery caused by an inaccurate address you have provided. Your delivery address will be shared with the seller to fulfil your order.
Confirming receipt
When your order arrives, you should confirm receipt through the app. This releases the seller's payment from Stripe. If you do not confirm receipt within a reasonable period, Carder may automatically mark the order as complete, which will release payment to the seller.
If there is a problem with your order — wrong items, damage, or non-arrival — contact the seller through the app before raising a dispute.
Buyer fees
There are no buyer fees on Carder. You pay the listed price plus the seller's stated delivery cost. No additional fees are charged to buyers.
Selling on Carder
Eligibility to sell
To sell on Carder, you must complete seller onboarding, including connecting a Stripe account for payouts. You must be eligible to hold a Stripe Connect account under Stripe's terms of service.
Ownership and right to sell
By listing a card, you confirm that:
- You own the card and have the right to sell it
- The card is genuine and not counterfeit
- The card is not stolen or otherwise illegally obtained
- The condition description and any photos accurately represent the card
Listing photo requirement
Sellers must upload photos for any card listed at £25 or more. Photos must accurately represent the card's actual condition. Listings at or above this threshold cannot be submitted without photos.
Tracked postage requirement
Tracked postage is mandatory in the following cases:
(a) Any single card listed at £25 or more; or
(b) Any order with a total value of £50 or more.
You must upload a valid tracking number for these orders when dispatching. Failure to provide tracked postage where required may result in dispute liability.
Dispatch obligations
- You must dispatch orders promptly. The app flags orders as urgent after 48 hours without dispatch action
- You must enter the carrier and tracking number when dispatching any tracked order
- You must not cancel orders except where genuinely unable to fulfil them (e.g. the card has been damaged or lost since listing)
Fees and payments
Platform fee
Carder charges a platform fee on completed sales, deducted automatically from the sale proceeds before they are credited to your seller balance. The fee is calculated on the order subtotal (card prices only) and does not apply to delivery costs.
Fee rates
- Launch rate: 3% — applies during the initial launch period
- Standard rate: 6.5% — the ongoing rate once the launch period ends
- Founding Seller rate: 3.25% — permanently halved rate for sellers enrolled in the Founding Seller programme who have met and maintained the qualifying conditions. See Founding Seller terms where applicable
The rate currently applicable to your account is displayed in Sell Settings. Carder may adjust the fee structure with reasonable notice communicated via the app or email. Continued selling after a fee change takes effect constitutes acceptance of the new rate.
Delivery costs
Sellers set their own delivery cost tiers. Delivery costs are passed to buyers in full and are not subject to the platform fee.
Payment processing
All payments are processed by Stripe, Inc. By using Carder, you agree to Stripe's terms of service in addition to these terms. Carder does not store payment card details.
Seller balance and payouts
When a buyer confirms receipt of their order, the sale proceeds minus the platform fee are credited to your Carder seller balance. This balance is held by Stripe, Inc. under the terms of your Stripe Connect account.
- You may request a payout to your connected bank account at any time through the app, provided your balance meets any minimum set by Stripe
- Payout timing is governed by Stripe's standard processing schedule and is typically 1–2 business days after the payout is initiated
- Carder does not charge a payout fee. Stripe may apply charges in accordance with their own terms
- Balances may be withheld or delayed where a dispute is in progress on an associated order
Reviews
Carder operates a trust review system for sellers. The following rules govern reviews.
- Only buyers may leave reviews, and only after an order has been marked as complete
- Reviews consist of a star rating (1–5) and optional categorised tags (e.g. accurate description, great packaging, fast dispatch)
- Reviews are permanent. They cannot be edited or deleted by the reviewer, the seller, or Carder, except where Carder determines a review violates these terms (for example, review manipulation or prohibited content)
- One review per completed order. A buyer may not leave multiple reviews for the same order
Attempting to incentivise positive reviews, suppress negative reviews, or manipulate the review system in any way is a serious violation of these terms and may result in immediate account suspension.
Opening verification
Carder offers an optional opening verification service to assist in resolving disputes involving sealed Pokémon TCG products (booster packs, booster boxes, etc.).
- Where a dispute involves sealed product and both the buyer and seller agree, the product may be opened on video in the presence of a Carder representative or an agreed trusted third party
- Verification videos are recorded for the sole purpose of resolving the specific dispute
- Videos are retained by Carder for 90 days after the associated order is completed or resolved, then deleted automatically
- Carder's determination following an opening verification is advisory, not binding, and does not constitute a judicial or arbitral decision
Prohibited conduct
The following conduct is prohibited on Carder. Breach of any of these may result in immediate account suspension.
- Listing counterfeit, stolen, or illegally obtained items. All listed items must be genuine and legally owned by the seller
- Fee circumvention. Arranging or completing transactions outside the Carder platform to avoid platform fees, including communicating payment details through in-app messaging for off-platform deals
- Review manipulation. Offering incentives for reviews, creating fake accounts to leave reviews, pressuring buyers not to leave reviews, or any other attempt to falsify or suppress the review system
- Harassment and abuse. Harassing, threatening, or abusing other users through in-app messaging or any other channel associated with Carder
- Multiple accounts. Creating or operating more than one account. This applies to individuals and to organisations attempting to circumvent suspensions
- Automated scraping. Using automated tools, bots, or scripts to extract data from the Carder platform without our prior written consent
- Spam and malware. Using Carder's messaging or notification systems to distribute spam, phishing attempts, or malicious software
- False condition descriptions. Knowingly misrepresenting the condition of a card in a listing
Account suspension
Carder may suspend, restrict, or permanently terminate any account at any time, with or without prior notice, where:
- We have reasonable grounds to believe these terms have been breached
- Your behaviour is causing harm to the platform, other users, or third parties
- We are required to do so by law or by a competent authority
- Your Stripe Connect account has been suspended or restricted by Stripe
Where your selling account is suspended and you hold a balance, any funds to which you are legitimately entitled will be released in accordance with applicable law and Stripe's terms, once any outstanding disputes have been resolved.
If you believe an account action was taken in error, contact support@carder.uk with the subject line "Account review request". We will respond within 5 business days.
Disputes
As a marketplace platform, Carder is not a party to transactions between buyers and sellers. When a dispute arises, the following process applies.
- Direct resolution first. Both parties should attempt to resolve the issue through the in-app messaging system. Most disputes are resolved at this stage
- Carder assistance. If direct resolution fails, either party may contact support@carder.uk to request assistance. Carder may, at its sole discretion, review the dispute and make a recommendation. Carder is not obligated to assist with any dispute and any recommendation is advisory only
- Opening verification. For disputes involving sealed products, both parties may agree to opening verification as described in section 9
Carder accepts no liability for the outcome of any transaction or dispute between users.

The Carder name, logo, app design, and all related intellectual property belong to Scott Barker trading as Carder. You may not use the Carder name or branding without our prior written permission.

Liability
Important: This section limits Carder's liability to you. Nothing in these terms excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for any other liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable UK law.
Platform provided 'as is'
The Carder platform is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. To the extent permitted by applicable UK law, Carder makes no warranties, express or implied, regarding the platform, including as to its fitness for a particular purpose, uninterrupted availability, or freedom from errors.
Cap on liability
Subject to the paragraph below on non-excludable liabilities, Carder's total aggregate liability to you in connection with these terms or your use of the platform shall not exceed the total platform fees paid by you (as a seller) in the 12 months preceding the event giving rise to the claim.
Transactions between users
Carder is not liable for any loss arising from a transaction between a buyer and a seller. If a seller fails to dispatch, delivers a counterfeit card, or otherwise breaches their obligations to you as a buyer, your claim is against that seller, not Carder. We may assist with dispute resolution as described in section 12 but accept no liability for transaction outcomes.
Non-excludable liabilities
Nothing in these terms shall exclude or limit Carder's liability for:
- Death or personal injury caused by our negligence
- Fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation
- Any liability that cannot be lawfully excluded or limited under the laws of England and Wales, including under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 where applicable
Governing law
These Terms of Service are governed by and construed in accordance with the law of England and Wales.
Any dispute arising out of or in connection with these terms, including any question regarding their existence, validity, or termination, shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales, except where mandatory applicable law provides otherwise.
If you are a consumer resident in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you may also be able to bring proceedings in the courts of your home jurisdiction under applicable UK law.
